A BRIEF HISTORY & OUR CONCEPT
In 1986 we had established Gio’s Concept in order to accommodate the growing market for skate, surf and street fashion. In this eventful period of history, street brands were beginning to emerge, becoming increasingly widespread amongst the populace all around the world. These brands were developing an iconic role in the future of fashion from which we would never look back.
The birth of Gio’s Concept featured a small team of individuals passionate about surfing and skateboarding; they set out on a mission to capture all the active street, skate and surf brands that were evolving. Within a short time, the company had grown tremendously and marked the release of Giosconcept.co.uk. Within our site, we had contained all the brands we had captured earlier, along with the expanding names in other sport, such as Fred Perry.
We had chosen to situate the store on the bustling High Street, Kings Lynn, Norfolk- a town within close proximity to one of the best coastlines in the country. This was a massive advantage for us. It not only enabled the team to enjoy the lifestyle they felt so passionately about, but also to keep up-to-date with the latest changes in consumer demands and newly developing styles, trends and brands.
Located just north of King’s Lynn are the popular coastal towns of Hunstanton and Brancaster. With the Hunstanton Sailing Club established in 1949, the sailing of a variety of vessels in and around the wash has been a popular activity amongst the members of the sailing club. We found ourselves in the heart of the lifestyle which hundreds of people were passionate about, the perfect place to showcase the style of fashion we were selling, and the style the people buying wanted.
As the team grew ever so quickly, we needed a crisp and stylish site to keep up with the mass demand of our market over the coming years. This rose to the creation of a newly developed website. Gio’s Concept sought to retain the true spirit of Street, Surf and Skate wear; the team at Gio’s work to the maximum to seek and promote the brands who share the same passion as we do for these sports.
To date, Gio’s Concept has been a recognised sponsor of the Annual Lifestyles Event held in Hunstanton as a venue for extreme sports. Hosting a series of national ranked competitions in Kitesurfing and Windsurfing as well as exquisite displays from top Pro-skaters and BMX riders.
The Concept behind our development will live on through the future, expanding ever so vastly and continuing to deliver a common passion in the clothing we sell.
